Chandon considers herself an abstract realist. While some of her
greatest influences are Bay Area Figurative painters such as
Richard Diebenkorn, She credits her friend and mentor, Professor
Wayne Thiebaud, for making her the painter she is today.
“Melissa Chandon Snow has developed an effective synthesis of abstract
and representational elements in her works. This gives the
works an intensity and raw graphic power to behold" -Wayne Thiebaud
Chandon has lived for parts of her life on a family ranch outside Winters,
California. She continues to draw inspiration from that
landscape, returning to sketch and draw the familiar
surroundings. “I paint narrative journals of my life, which in and of
themselves, are complete worlds.”
