A special exhibition of limited
edition prints by Melissa Chandon is now on view throughout Terminal
B at the Sacramento International Airport. Chandon’s lavish oil
paintings, reproduced here as limited edition prints, document the
scenic highways and byways of California as well as the iconic
Americana of roadside attractions, vintage modes of transportation,
and neon signs.
Born as a child of the 50’s, Chandon
was raised on road trips with her parents who saw cross country
travel as a means of educating their children to the humanity of the
American experience. Chandon is committed to documenting this
classic era of U.S. architecture and history before it disappears
from the landscape.
Chandon’s artwork is rooted in the
tradition of 20th century American figurative painting. It
manifests the directness of David Hockney’s work, the romance of
Edward Hopper, Wayne Thiebaud’s delight with color and surface, and
the intriguing abstraction of Richard Deibenkorn. For more
